Review and Giveaway: Ingenuity Quiet and Portable Swing

Want to WIN this swing? Then don’t miss the #GIVEAWAY at the end of this infant swing review!

It’s easy to get overwhelmed when shopping for an infant swing – do I need a big swing or a small one, how many bells and whistles should I be looking for, how many variations in rhythm should it have, upright or more reclining… etc, etc… etc… In addition, space is always a concern for me because we currently live in a condo so everything we use has to be optimal for space usage and low noise levels.

I recently had the opportunity to review the Ingenuity Quiet and Portable Swing(available at Buy Buy Baby) and let me tell you, I wish I had this around the first week of having a newborn baby at home!!

Before I go any further, here are the top 4 reasons why we really like this swing:

  • It’s nearly silent
  • It folds (almost) flat thus making it easy to transport and/or store under the bed
  • It has 3x the battery life of most other battery operated swings.
  • It has a nice deep bucket seat perfect (and ADORABLE print!!) for lulling your little one into a nap.

ASSEMBLY: I was able to put this item together relatively easily (meanwhile my husband watched and giggled at me occasionally.) While the instructions DID outline everything, I sometimes found it was easier to spread out the parts on the ground and use the picture of the finished product as my guide. Most of the pieces connected by being “clicked” into place (some of these connectors felt “stuck” but maybe I was just feeling weak that day.) Know that you will need a Phillips Head screwdriver and 4 D batteries so make sure you have them handy.

When in use, this swing uses magnets to maintain 5 steady rocking motions. Because of this technology, there is no loud motor and you have longer battery life. It comes preprogrammed with lovely music and nature sounds as well.

There has only been one downside to this swing and I noticed it around month 9 which is when Isabella really started getting squirmy when sitting in swings. She figured out that if she grabs the main frame, she can stop the swing… Fortunately, there is a safety T strap to keep my little one in place.

All in all, this is a great, quiet swing for infants to approximately 8 months (or longer if your child is better behaved than mine. ) offering an ideal napping spot and place to put them when you need them entertained. For a while, we’d turn on Baby Einstein while Bella was in the swing and it gave Mommy the perfect opportunity to take that long relaxing bath which she so desperately needed. :)
